Yarsagumba has been using it as a herb and medicine in Nepal since the ancient times. The credit of collecting Yarsagumba for the first time, which is used as various herbs, goes to Polunin Saikal and William, who came to collect plants on behalf of the British Museum in London in 1952. They took the very valuable Yarsagumba from Chakhur Lake at an altitude of 4200 meters. In Nepal, it is found in Yarsagumba, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Darchula, Bajhang, Bajura, Jumla, Humla, Mugu, Dolpa, Manang, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, Dolakha, Rukum, Myagdi, Gorkha districts.
